Please note that applications which relate to the 2022/23 cohort of trainees – the Professional Skills tests are no longer required to be taken at a Skills Test Centre. Each provider does, however, have to ensure that applicants are competent in both English and Mathematics. This is done through capability tests at interview stage.
All teachers are expected to be competent in Fundamental English and mathematics by the end of ITT.
We recommend that potential applicants still refer to publications such as the Professional Skills Tests guides, highlighted below, as a way of preparing for the Maths and English capability tests, particularly if, as an applicant, you have not recently studied Maths or English.
The two books below have been recommended by recent trainees:
Guide to the QTS Numeracy Skills Test
Written by Tom O’Toole
Produced by QTSSkillsTests.com

Pass the QTS Numeracy Skills Test with Ease 2016-2017
